Setup & pricing

How long does Restpy take to set up?
Most restaurants are live in under 30 minutes. Menu upload (CSV / Excel / screenshot OCR) is the longest step — usually 10-15 minutes. Printing QR codes and inviting staff takes another 10 minutes. We do free white-glove imports for any paid plan.

Do I need new hardware?
No. Restpy runs on any phone, tablet or PC made in the last 5 years. A cheap thermal printer (Epson TM-T82, ₹6,000-9,000) is recommended for KOTs and 80mm receipts. Existing TM-T82s plug in via USB or LAN without configuration.

Can I import my existing menu?
Yes. CSV, Excel, screenshot OCR, or a photo of your paper menu. Free white-glove migration for paid plans — we'll import your menu, modifiers and table layout for you within 24 hours of signup.

Is there a minimum contract?
Yes — 3 months minimum. After that, cancel anytime; data stays read-only for 90 days for export.

Operations

Does Restpy work offline?
The customer QR menu and the waiter app cache for 24 hours after each sync — both keep accepting orders during a Wi-Fi blip and push them when the connection returns. The kitchen display needs a stable connection (it's the only sync point for real-time orders).

Can I run multiple outlets?
Yes — built in. Add outlets under Manager → Outlets. Each outlet has its own menu, staff, taxes and reports; the owner sees consolidated revenue. Outlet managers see only their own outlet.

Can I take cash, card AND UPI?
All three plus net-banking and wallets via Razorpay. Counter cash is logged manually by reception with optional automatic till reconciliation at close.

Does it print KOTs in Hindi / regional languages?
Yes. KOTs print in whatever language the customer ordered in, with English transliteration so kitchen staff who don't read the script can still cook the right item.

Integrations

Zomato / Swiggy / Magicpin / EatSure?
Yes — push their orders into Restpy via webhook so your kitchen sees one unified queue. Set up under Settings → Delivery partners. Most platforms onboard in under 24 hours.

Tally / Zoho Books / QuickBooks?
Daily revenue + GST CSVs you can import. Direct API integration is on the roadmap for Q3 2026.

WhatsApp Business API?
Yes — bring your own token via Settings → WhatsApp. Send order updates, reservation confirmations and birthday offers from your own Business number.

Custom POS / KDS hardware?
Restpy is browser-based. Any device with a browser works. If you've already invested in dedicated hardware (Sunmi T2, iPad on a stand, etc.) it works as-is.

Money & refunds

Who collects the customer payments?
You do. Plug in your own Razorpay keys (or Stripe internationally) and customer payments land directly in your bank account. Restpy never touches the money — that's how we keep our promise of 0% commission on customer orders.

How do refunds work?
Issued by the restaurant directly through Razorpay / Stripe (full or partial). Restpy can't pull refunds without owner approval and doesn't hold the funds.

What's the cancellation policy?
3-month minimum, then cancel anytime. Annual contracts are pro-rated for the unused portion if you cancel after 30 days. See the refund policy for fine print.

Support

What if something breaks during dinner rush?
Hit the SOS button in the dashboard topbar. Our on-call team picks up 11am-2am IST, every day except Sunday afternoon. Median first response: 23 minutes.
